BEWC Activities 2008-2009

Since September 2009 BEWC Members receive twice per months a news letter containing news from BEWC members, relevant information and calls for proposals etc from EU related institutions, other international and civil society organisations.
Publications; the “Report of the Vienna Congress”, Vienna 2007 and “Voices of Black European Women I”, Vienna 2009 published by AFRA – International Center of Blackwomen’s Perspectives have greatly contributed and the visibility of the BEWC and Black Women in general Women at European and international level. The first book outlines processes and outcome of the First Black European Women’s Congress, Vienna 2007 while the second features and addresses different topics of daily life and political form the perspective of 22 Black European Women.

International Women's Day 2008

We are very proud to honor our Black Women Hiroes ( see below) on the Ocassion of the International Women's Day 2008 for their couragoeus, inspiring and empowering achievements over the centuries!
We salute the effords and contributions of women all over the world towards theas!
We encourage more active participation and solidarity amongst women accross all boarders!
We demand institutional and financial support of Women Initiatives the world over, especially Immigrant Women!
We believes that self-empowerment is the key to the development of every society, and that diversity is an inalienable asset for every society!
We wish all women of the world, especially Black Women a very fulfilling Day!

vienna declaration

The Vienna Declaration was adopted at the 1st Black European Women's Congress, initiated by AFRA-International Center for Black Women's Perspectives (Austia) and co-organised by Tiye International (The Netherlands), which was attended by about 100 Black Women from 16 EU Member States, Switzerland and the USA.
Dissemination
So far the Vienna Declaration has been translated from the english original version into french, german, portuguese and swedish languages. To facilitate extensive dissemination, further translations will include selected african languages.
