1. Three BEWC board members at UN Conference in Geneva
In the context of the International Year for People of African Descent BEWC Board Suzanne Mbiye Diku attended, on behalf of BEWC, the thematic discussion on ‘Racial Discrimination against People of African Descent’. The discussion took place on 7 March 2011 in a plenary meeting at the United Nations Office in Geneva.

2. Transatlantic conference on minority political leadership, Brussels
A delegation of BEWC members and board members including Adrianne Georges and Salome Mbugua attended the third conference on transatlantic conference on minority political leadership organised by the European parliament and the Helsinki Commission in Brussels on March 24th 2011.

3. World Diversity Leadersdhip Summit 2011
Benedicta Attoh (BEWC) is currently relocating from Ireland to Nigeria. We are glad that she took part in the WDLS 2011.

AFRA undertakes to waive the registration fees for BEWC members. The registration deadline is 21 March 2011. Registration is limited. Early registration is recommended! Late registrants will be considered based on availability.

17.02.2011 In my function as the BEWC president, I prepared a letter to congressman Hastings and the Helsinki community asking for the support and cooperation in organising an event in the context of the current UN Year of People of African Origin 2011. We highly welcome any suggestions you may have for the UN year of People of African Origin 2011.

17.02.2011 is celebrating their 10th year of existence in 2011 and therefore invited AFRA to host the general assembly this summer in Ireland. Thanks Salome for this kind invitation!

African Women in Europe Award in Berlin

17.02.2011 African Women in Europe (A.W.E.) invited AFRA to be partner of the upcoming event “African Women in Europe Award“ taking place in Berlin. This will be held 17-19 June 2011. Everyone who wants to participate is kindly welcomed!
